Breaking: New Nigeria's National Anthem May Be A Re-visitation Of Ancient Ways Of Regionalism
New Nigerian Song of praise - Maybe, A Re-visitation of THE Former Methods OF REGIONALISM?
The Nigerian Senate has now passed a bill that looks for a re-visitation of Nigeria's old public song of devotion, "Nigeria, we hail you." It was during the time of Olusegun Obasanjo's tactical organisation in 1978 that this song of praise was dropped for "Emerge, O' Countrymen."
The inquiry now on the lips of numerous Nigerians is: amidst financial difficulties, instability, and general low resolve among the Nigerian people, should changing the public song of praise be the focal point of our chosen delegates?
It is said by certain pundits that the President is frantic for a success to show for one year in office by May 29, and the public song of praise change is only one of such moves pointed towards exhibiting something for one year spent in office. How that counts for success, I pass on to you.
Of more interest to me is the meaning of a re-visitation of the prior ways, with the song of devotion as the starting point. The nation today is poor as uses keep on becoming contrasted with pay. To such an extent, we are utilising oil prospects just to acquire transient access to capital. Many states are inefficient and depend upon oil incomes from government distributions to pay compensation and complete infrastructural advancement.
However, would it be a good idea for us to return to the regionalism of the early years, where "Clans and Tongues vary (locales), yet in Fellowship (one Nigeria) we stand?" From the UK to the US to China to Japan, reliance on the middle prompts proceeding with underdevelopment, yet monetary federalism or reverted socialism, like in China, prompts a fast turn of events. Progress is quicker when every locale is permitted to foster themselves at their own speed and limit.
Hence, while we might be against the difference in hymn for different reasons, I would count it a net positive should the President or Public Gathering propose a re-visitation of regionalism, beginning with a re-visitation of the old song of praise. In any case, the new song of devotion is only a waste of time.
What is your interpretation of the new hymn, and might you at any point discuss it? God favours you, and God favours the government of the Republic of Nigeria.
Nigeria, we hail you,
Our own dear native land,
Though tribes and tongues may differ,
In brotherhood, we stand.
Nigerians are all proud to serve.
Our sovereign motherland.
Our flag will be a symbol.
That truth and justice reign,
In peace or battle, honor'd,
And this we count as a gain.
To hand on to our children
A banner without stains.
O God of all creation,
Grant this our one request,
Help us to build a nation.
Where no man is oppressed,
And so, with peace and plenty
Nigeria may be blessed.
