Breaking: Bola Tunibu Has Announced A Newly Plans For Assuaring Security In Nigeria
Bola Ahmed Tinubu announces security emergency and plans for significant recruitment in the Army and Police.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared a state of emergency regarding Nigeria's security situation, emphasizing the need for a strong response to new threats across the nation.
In a statement he personally signed, President Tinubu explained that this decision followed a review of the country's security environment, leading him to "declare a nationwide security emergency and mandate increased recruitment for the Armed Forces."
The President stated, "The police and army are authorized to expand their personnel. The police will add 20,000 officers, raising the total to 50,000. While I had previously approved upgrades to police training facilities nationwide, this statement allows police authorities to utilize various National Youth Service Corps camps as training sites."
Tinubu cautioned terrorists against challenging his administration's determination and urged the National Assembly "to start reviewing our laws to enable states that need state police to establish them."
He instructed that officers being reassigned from VIP protection duties should receive rapid training before being sent to areas facing security challenges.
The President also mentioned, "The DSS has my authorization to immediately deploy all trained forest guards to eliminate terrorists and bandits hiding in our forests. The agency is also directed to recruit additional personnel to patrol the forests. There will be no safe havens for those who commit evil."
"This is a national emergency, and we are responding by increasing our presence on the ground, particularly in areas facing security issues. The situation calls for everyone's involvement. As Nigerians, we must all participate in securing our nation."
President Tinubu praised security agencies for their joint efforts in securing the release of 24 schoolgirls in Kebbi and 38 worshippers in Kwara State.
