Breaking: Nnamdi Kanu Has been Sentenced To entirely Live imprisonment

The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to life imprisonment after he was found guilty of terrorism-related charges.

Judge James Omotosho convicted Kanu on all seven counts, which included issuing a sit-at-home order that led to economic losses and the deaths of innocent individuals in the South-East, being a member of a banned organization, committing acts of terrorism, and threatening those who did not comply with his directives.

The court also determined that he incited the killings of Nigerian security personnel and made broadcasts inciting violence. Additionally, he was found guilty of committing an act of terrorism against the Federal Republic of Nigeria by threatening that people would die and that the world would come to a halt during a live broadcast.

The judge indicated that he was inclined to impose the death penalty due to the severity of Kanu's actions, but noted that Kanu showed no remorse. He referenced some Biblical verses to advocate for mercy, pointing out that the death penalty is increasingly viewed negatively worldwide.

Consequently, Kanu received a life sentence for counts 1, 4, 5, and 6, instead of the death penalty. For count three, he was sentenced to 20 years without the possibility of parole, and the same applies to count seven.

The judge stated that the sentences would run concurrently and emphasized that Kanu still poses a risk of violence. He ordered that Kanu be held in a correctional facility without access to digital devices. The judge acknowledged Kanu as a freedom fighter advocating for his people's rights.
