Breaking: Unemployment Will Soon Be History In Nigeria.

Government Provoded Some Certains Skills For Eliminating And Addressing Graduate Unemployment In Nigeria Nigeria

As Nigeria faces increasing unemployment and a growing disconnect between the skills of graduates and the demands of the job market, experts highlight the necessity for focused skills education. This approach aims to provide graduates with practical and sought-after skills that are relevant to the changing employment landscape.

A report from the World Bank indicates that a significant indicator of the shortcomings in the current skills development system is the difficulty many educated Nigerians experience in securing productive employment, a situation that seems to be deteriorating. Research indicates that approximately 50% of jobs that require a university degree and 30% of those needing at least a polytechnic diploma also demand computing and analytical skills.

Experts suggest that Nigeria can enhance its workforce by implementing targeted educational strategies, which include fostering partnerships between industry and academia, incorporating hands-on, real-world learning into educational programs, utilizing technology and e-learning resources, investing in digital infrastructure, promoting vocational training, and emphasizing specialized areas like artificial intelligence (AI). Additionally, cultivating a culture of lifelong learning and ongoing professional development is essential.

Olajumoke Familoni, a professor of entrepreneurship and president of ICLED Business School, stressed the importance of closing the gap between graduates and their employability. Familoni stated that Nigeria requires a training system that transforms students into confident, skilled professionals ready to compete in the global workforce and provide solutions to the country's economic issues.

Omowale Ogunrinde, founder of Field of Skills and Dream (FSD), remarked, “Nigerian youth spend years in universities, incurring significant costs, only to graduate without job opportunities. We are a society that often undervalues skills acquisition, yet it is essential for success in business. Our youth must acquire the skills that industries require for employability, which is where tech education plays a crucial role.”

Christopher Itua, head of industrial services and development at the Institute for Industrial Technology (IIT), Maintenance Engineer, and Partner at Laborda Associates, stated, “Nigeria needs to educate graduates on both skills and ethics to ensure they perform tasks effectively. Skills are what make individuals employable; while employers have job openings, many potential employees lack the necessary skills to fill those roles.”

Definitely, this is great and profound ideas and thoughts which will extremely assist in eradication of unemployment not only graduated students but also with all youths those that had not opportunities to go to institutions.
