Just-In: Terrorists Have Killed Police In Bauchi.
This recent event contributes to the growing insecurity throughout Nigeria, where armed groups threaten the population, committing acts of murder and kidnapping at their discretion.
On Saturday, two police officers lost their lives in Bauchi State during an attack on their unit. Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin stated that the officers were conducting a visibility patrol in Sabon Sara Village to reassure the local community when they were ambushed.
"In line with our duty to protect Nigerians, a combined force of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Police Mobile Force (PMF), and State Intelligence Department (SID) carried out a visibility patrol earlier today to instill confidence among residents in Sabon Sara Village, Bauchi State. Unfortunately, the team was attacked, resulting in the deaths of two officers and injuries to another," Mr. Hundeyin explained.
"Efforts are currently being made to capture the assailants. We assure the public that while we mourn our fallen officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in fulfilling their duties, we remain committed to our mission of safeguarding all Nigerians."
This incident is part of a broader trend of increasing insecurity in Nigeria, where armed groups continue to terrorize citizens, engaging in killings and kidnappings at will. Last week, over 300 students were abducted from a Catholic school in Niger State, and 24 Muslim students were taken from another school in Kebbi State.
In Kwara State, armed individuals attacked a church, kidnapping numerous worshippers. As of this report, none of the victims from these recent incidents have been released.
